db requires jre and ( i dont remember exactly about this one ) mod_php ? requires jdk so all u have to do is "swap them " . everytime one of thes comes up for upgrade i have to switch

so to answer ur q emerge blackdown-jre first and follow the docs on java config  |

| the opposite for me... swapped from jre to jdk for the db package, and it compiled fine. <shrug> But yeah, otherwise, the switching thing is right. |

| I emerged both jre and jdk. DB compiled fine from then on. Continued to 'emerge system' end. |
