|

Hey,
Today I wanted to boot my server.
I hit the power button, the lights on my PC were turned on
(HD + power). I listened at the machine, and I really heard no noise,
except of my case fan. No beep, no nothing.
I tried pinging it from my other machine, but I got no response.
Took it upstears, connected a monitor, but got no video (not even
at bootup). Thought may vga-card was broken, so placed another one
in it, but still no luck.
When I powered it off and removed the HD, and booted again, the
system was beeping. Replaced the HD, no beeping but no boot
and no video.
Also: the fan on my CPU is not 'fanning' (or how do I say that? Spinning?)
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thx! |

vhkristof,
It looks like you hard drive is dead but it could be the IDE cable or the IDE interface on the motherboard.
You can only test by substitution.
If your fan has failed it could have cooked your CPU. If you got video with the HDD disconnected, the CPU is probably OK.
