|
|
ok...i previously put on the gentoo-sources kernel, but now i wanted gaming-sources kernel (seeing i do a lot of apps, but also a lot of games)...now i used genkernel to set it up...but the thing is that 1) i want to change my cpu family to k7 (because i have an athlon-xp) and 2) i want to add usb printer support (because i need to print out some work tonite), so if anyone can tell me how to edit my kernel WITHOUT having to make a fully customized one (meaning i want to use genkernel) it would be a HUGE help... even if it ends up having to redo the kernel and building it myself, i need help on that because when i tried it before, it tells me that the bzImage file doesnt exist and 2) when i tried to go back to my old kernel (which was w/ genkernel and i saved it incase that happened) it booted fine, except it NEVER detected my net card (eth0) and i couldnt get that to work...so if anyone can help me with this, again, it would be a HUGE help
thnx 4 any feedback!! |

Well, I don't really understand "fully customized". It is either customized or it isn't. You can change the kernel config and still use the genkernel script by typing:
genkernel --config
and it will start the process with
make menuconfig
and allow you to change the kernel configuration before compiling. This should allow you to change the options that you described and add support for your network card. |
