Just download the newest hostap-driver tarball from http://hostap.epitest.fi/ and do the following:
| Code: | tar xzvf hostap-driver-(insert version here).tar.gz
cd hostap-driver-(insert version here)
make
su (if you're not root already)
make install |
They worked for me, right out of the box, while the most recent ebuild failed. |

| Another thing about HostAP, it doesn't like agressive compiler options. So make sure you use -O2 to compile it. (and I'd take out anything else you have too.) |

| This probelm is affecting me now with 2.6.0-love2. I tried compiling both hostap and hostap-drivers by hand. No luck. Craps out on the same error as the OP. Any new solutions? |

This isn't very helpful but I've been having the exact same problem. I tried to compile hostap-drivers with a few different 2.6 kernels, and I've tried manually building the module too. The first thing I get every time is the error about missing irq_vector.h in the compile process, so I tried to:

That allowed me to emerge hostap-driver without an error, but when I try to modprobe hostap_pci it says module not found. Hostap is the only driver that has consistently worked for me, so I would love if anyone who's solved this could respond with some advice.

| Looking at the Makefile reveals that there is a '2.6' target. I was having huge errors both using portage and running make manually. But typing built it perfectly (for me atleast). |
