Ok, after going through the install, when I reboot, it goes top a blank screen, and until I press enter, does nothing.
After pressing enter, I get Gentoo Loading... then pages of unreadable garbage - not readable characters, just dots...and lots of 'em.
There is no xdm or gdm installed, I am expecting just plain old text mode linux, but...not so much.
Any hints? |

Did you install a bootloader -- Grub or Lilo? Any other information, such as what kernel, how it was configured, etc would be very helpful. |

Are there any error messages at all that you can read after the gentoo loading line?
My first install attempt I had a S3 sound card that was detected by the LiveCD boot. After the install the card was causing PCI problems (most likely interrupt confilcts) and it was making the the video go to crap. I ended up with an unreadable screen. You might try pulling all but the necessary cards and see if it will boot.
Other than that you might try posting some more info on your hardware and kernel config. |
