Stage 1 with no internet connection ... a newbie remark

what about associating to each portage a couple of 'profiles' with the list of files to be downloaded for say

- a working, non graphical, gentoo box
- an X11 based (no kde, no gnome) graphical gentoo box

Why don't you post a bug report on this?

Also, why don't they give you a stage 1 bootable ISO with all the files you need (and the appropriate snapshot for the day it was mastered), and then you could just download it and be good. And a second CD for X/KDE/Gnome (Because I think it would be too much to do on a single CD.
