Hello everyone,
This is the first of possibly many questions. Hopefully not.
I just installed Gentoo Linux for the first time, I've emerged the base system and got X working, plus KDE. Very fast!
The problem is that I tried updating the system, and then ran etc-update
I must have merged/replaced the wrong file somewhere
Now there is a problem with my computer getting it's IP address from the DNS server.
If I login (or su) to root, I can run dhcpd, then my computer gets an IP address.
I have tried rc-update add dhcpd default, as I thought that might make it run automatically on startup, but it says * /sbin/rc-update: /etc/init.d/dhcpd not found; aborting.
So at this point, I have to turn to the experts!
I'm sure it's probably something little. Well, I'm hoping it is anyway.
I'd be very grateful for any ideas on how to fix this!
Thanks ![Razz :P](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

Have a look in /etc/conf.d/net
Does it seems sound ?
Especially have a look at "iface_ethx", there are two entries for 0. One for dhcp, one with direct parameters. Check that the right one is uncommented while the other commented out. |
