Hey,
I used to run vsftpd on port 2121 from xinetd since my isp blocked all ports below 1024. Now I changed from isp and I want it to run back on port 21. I changed the port in /etc/xinetd/vsftpd back to 21, but when I restart xinetd and I check my logs, it says that vsftpd expects to be run on 2121.
In /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf there is no occurence of a port.
If put the port back on 2121 in the xinetd/vsftpd file, vsftpd get's started, otherwise it doesn't. Also, the config file that is listed in xinetd/vsftpd points to the right one.
I'm guessing that vsftpd is getting the port 2121 preference from somewhere, but I can't figure out from where. |

that's funny, maybe you edited /etc/services as well?
does tell you anything interesting?
if not, posting your /etc/xinetd/vsftpd and the exact message in your syslog could help. |

I'm not home at the moment so I can't say for sure if I edited services as well but I'm 90% sure, because I had some problems making vsftpd run on 2121 before, and a friend helped me, I seem to remember that he edited my services file. Thanks alot! |
