|

Hi all:
I am in the process of reinstalling my machine after a HDD failure. Everything was going fine as was rebuilding Mesa Ina terminal window without all the default Intel and neuveau drivers and my desktop locked up. It froze and I forgot to set she to start at the default run level....fine, power cycled. I come back in and the following happens:
The xfce4 panel loads,
The 3 terminal Windows I had open open up,
There is the xfce4 icon with and hour grass on it,
If I move the mouse off the xfce4 icon the mouse pointer changes to an arrow.
That's it, not keyboard response at all. I can't do anything. Luckily I have ssh running so I connect to my machine from my BB and do a kill all X.
I reinstalled all the xfce4 packages noting that xfce4 session still had the systems use flag enabled and that xfce4 settings had xf86-input-libinput enabled so got rid of that (not sure if I needed that or not).
No change. Th desktop remains frozen, I can't get in. I always have to kill all X from my BB over ssh to get a console back.
I tried deleting the .cinfig/xfce4 directory and no change....comes up with the xfce4 first time run screen and freezes.
This is weird!
Any suggestions?
Cheers,
John |

The solution was to delete the /home/jserink/.cache/xfce4/ directory.
I did that from the console and when I fired up startx, it all worked again.
