|
|
Hello,
I have this message in dmesg, what does it mean ? The T400 doesn't even have a HDMI output.
It happens with kernel 4.9, 4.14, 4.19 and 5.4.2 which I'm currently using.
When it occurs, it causes the display to "freeze".. well, it causes a noticeable lag. It happens when viewing a video or playing a game. Especially in fullscreen.
My display is 1440x900.
Code: | [49748.962003] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector HDMI-A-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling
[49871.329989] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector HDMI-A-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling

Thanks for your help. |

sdauth,
HDMI-A-1 may not be an external output. Your internal laptop screen can be connected there.
Can you put /var/log/Xorg.0.log/ onto a pastebin site please?
All of dmesg may be useful too, if in contains something before the messages you posted. _________________ Regards,

NeddySeagoon,
Here is Xorg log : https://paste.debian.net/plainh/89e3cffa
There is nothing else interesting in dmesg unfortunately, this message appears randomly, with nothing before or after.
This error also happen with other distros (Debian, Arch..) with this T400. |

For what it is worth, it seems that is somehow "fixed" with recent kernels. I'm running 5.4.14 on it and while the interrupt messages still show up, it doesn't cause any "lag" anymore.
Still a bit sad to not fully understand what the root cause is and relies on kernel bump "magic" |
