11-5-03 date for the 2.6 livecd
I finished the bootstrap process.
when I do
emerge system
I get the following error
www.mike.daugird.com/gentoo/error.txt
I had to reboot to get the error uploaded to my site.
right now I am at the livecd bash prompt.
anyone know why my "C compiler cannot create executables"? _________________ Abit KD7-S

joffer, I don't understand your question.
the 2.6 livecd just boots without any input from me.
It gets my network chip and I am up and running. _________________ Abit KD7-S

I don't think that it is my cflags.
I re-chrooted and I modified my cflags to be -O2 and that my cpu is an athlon-xp
when I try to emerge glibc I get an error about the size of a long double?
unable to calculate the sizeof(long double) 77 _________________ Abit KD7-S

the 2.6 version of genkernel needs some work I think.
I got the 2.6 live cd to instal a bootable system with a stage3 tarbal.
problem is when I reboot, I don't have a module for my network card.(this is the card that was autodetected by the live cd which allowed me to download the stage3 tarball.)
I am now redoing the kernel part with the manual kernel config.
My questions are with the manual kernel compile how do I get the initrd image?
it does boot, not much running but I used the mm-sources-test9-mm2
Any help is appreciated.
PS. now that I have things running can I now change my use and cflags and run emerge world?
I only went to stage3 because stage1 told me my compiler couldn't make executables....see above error.txt file.
I would like to optimize this system a little more. (why else would I play with 2.6) _________________ Abit KD7-S

When I put the CD in my CD-Drive on my laptop it' won't boot. Thats why I asked how you got it to boot. I've later discovered it booted just fine on my desktop computer.. don't know why it won't boot on my laptop |

The problem is that -yet_exec; is that in your CFLAGS? |
