Hi,
Last weekend I tried to emerge R and got an error message. I did an today and tried again. Unfortunately, I'm still getting errors I don't understand.
Code: |
[bpoi@slick]$ emerge --pretend --backtrack=30 --verbose-conflicts R
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in
the dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can
not be installed simultaneously.
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man
page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
The following packages are causing rebuilds:
(dev-libs/gmp-6.1.0:0/10.4::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) causes rebuilds for:
(dev-lang/ghc-7.10.3:0/7.10.3::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

What should I do? |

| I'd mask dev-libs/gmp-6.1.0:0/10.4::gentoo. Emerge says it is not strictly required, but it has higher version number, so emerge would rather install it instead of the older version.
Calculating dependencies is highly magic. You can try removing that manual mask after initial install completes. Perhaps emerge will be smart enough to carry on from this point.
Same thing goes here:
Code: |
(sys-libs/ncurses-6.0-r1:0/6::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
(no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)
(sys-libs/ncurses-5.9-r5:0/5::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
>=sys-libs/ncurses-5.7-r7:0/5= required by (media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.29:0.9/0.9::gentoo, installed) | . Mask first one, sys-libs/ncurses-6.0-r1:0/6::gentoo |

Once I masked both gmp-6.1.0:0/10.4::gentoo and ncurses-6.0-r1:0/6::gentoo I was able to emerge R, and it seems to be working fine.
Thanks for your help! |
