Importing mbox to maildir

I work with a small hosting company and we're replacing our old server and updating our various bits and pieces where possible.

The new server is running Gentoo and I followed the postfix virtual hosting howto setup for our email. One issue is that our old system used the mbox format (all email in one file) and I definitely want to move to maildir for our new server. What's the best way to convert from one to another?

I was considering writing a script that just read through through the mbox file and resent the messages through postfix, but I was hoping that I could avoid reinventing the wheel.
