Version 56.0.2924.76 (64-bit) 'Aw Snap's all over the place.

for years I have only used chromium to login into my google account and other google products.

Here's the procedure I have always used...

start chromium
login to my account at https://myaccount.google.com/?pli=1
using its app matrix at the upper right I right click (to load into separate tabs) on
....calendar
....gmail
....drive
.... G+

with this latest chromium the INSTANT I select a tab other than the login tab
ALL tabs go into 'Aw Snap' mode.

Two stable versions ago (sorry, I don't have that number) was the first time this problem
came up with any regularity, but with that version the 'Aw Snaps' wouldn't occur for 30-60mins,
and would/could occur on it's own without me clicking on a tab.

The previous version, chromium-55.0.2883.75, was not giving me any problems in this regard.

And now, I'm stuck, I can't go back

emerge -pv =chromium-55.0.2883.75

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "=chromium-55.0.2883.75".

And going up to a developer version, chromium-57.0.2987.8, wants to mess with
a bunch of other apps and I'm reluctant to get into that, especially with this one week
old gentoo install.

Any ideas?

Thanks
.

I have been having this issue for that last month to two months. I have three systems all with this issue. One is my laptop with intel processor and intel graphics, and two desktops, on intel processor, one amd processor both with nvidia graphics. I have been googling the heck out of this and found some saying it was the intel graphics, but that doesn't explain my nvidia graphic systems having the same exact issue.

I have tried every reasonable solution with no change.

I find it crashes most often on youtube on certain advertisements or banners. If I click "Reload" enough times to get a different banner or ad, then it will eventually not crash.

Here is the output from a crash:

chromium

btw, I have no problems logging into my google account and starting my usual google tabs when using firefox.

with firefox google account tabs working... meanwhile back in chromium...

I have multiple tabs working properly in chromium when I'm not logged in to my google account or any of the
other google applications. Chromium tabs still barf if I goto the google products individually without going
through my google account login.

go figure...
