I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question with a simple obvious answer that I'm just not seeing.. Since the maintainers of the Gentoo website have changed the format of the online package database, is there still a way to browse categories to see what packages are available?

Edit: Found another thread where someone mentions www.gentoo-portage.com , but that's an unofficial site.

The brief listings (only name) in each category and of all categories were a very nice feature previously. Can that be done on the new site?

No idea. Might want to file a bug asking for it if it can't.

hmm...I was getting really iritated when the "Online package database" link took me to http://packages.gentoo.org/ and I found it next to impossible to navigate it. But I found that the old package db page is still at http://www.gentoo.org/dyn/pkgs/.

Anyone know if it is still being updated?
