Strange issue: whenever I open gnome-terminal as non-root, it wont initialize correctly. Instead of giving me a prompt, it just blinks a cursor and does nothing. I tried it in a 2.4 kernel as well and it worked fine. I am running gnome 2.4. Besides this, everything works great. I have a feeling it either has to do with me not being the in the correct group, or some new kernel functionality with virtual terminals. Any help is great. Thanks.

The only problems I've ever had with the 2.6 series is the classical kernel panic :-)

try to launch it like this:
Code:
gnome-teminal -e /bin/bash --login

if it doesn't work, you can always try to re-emerge gnome-terminal :-)
