I'm using gnome and there is a nice app, keyboard layout switcher, that change your keyboard localization (German <> US for example). It is very handy, because I only have to press <Alt>-<Shift>-<l> to switch the layout.

Now I'm using often my framebuffer-console without X and gnome and I have to switch the keyboard-layout too. Is there a simply way to do this, best with a keyboard shortcut.

I believe that if you are not running X you cannot use setxkbmap. For console you should use
Code:

loadkeys <keymap>

keymaps are specified in /usr/share/keymaps. I am using simple console without framebuffer but this should work woth framebuffer as well.
