Hey guys, libevent got upgraded yesterday and downgraded again today. Now I get this message after every emerge, any fix?:

Code:

[ebuild   R    ] dev-libs/libevent-2.0.22  USE="ssl threads -debug -static-libs {-test}" ABI_X86="32 (64) (-x32)" 0 KiB

Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 KiB

WARNING: One or more updates/rebuilds have been skipped due to a dependency conflict:

dev-libs/libevent:0

  (dev-libs/libevent-2.1.5:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) conflicts with
    <=dev-libs/libevent-2.1 required by (net-fs/nfs-utils-1.3.1-r1:0/0::gentoo, installed)

Same here.

[UPDATED]

The issue seems to be an nfs-utils-1.3.1-r1 ebuild dependency. It's looking for <=dev-libs/libevent-2.1, and only 2.0.22 and 2.1.5 now exist in the tree.

I see. But I couldn't find anything related in Bugzilla yet.
Let's just hope this will solve itself within the next few days.

New nfs-utils-1.3.2-r1 finally fixed the issue for me.

Problem is still here in 2017, slightly different. The stable nfs-utils-1.3.1-r5 still wants <=libevent2.1, and some time recently libevent 2.0.x was removed from the tree. For today I'm adding a keyword for nfs-utils-1.3.4 to work around. It's basically the dame thing that was done two years ago.

How is such a mess possible?

Code:
!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:

dev-libs/libevent:0

  (dev-libs/libevent-2.1.8:0/2.1-6::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    >=dev-libs/libevent-2.1.5-r4 required by (app-misc/tmux-2.2:0/0::gentoo, installed)
    ^^                  ^^^^^^^^

  (dev-libs/libevent-2.0.22:0/0::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
    >=dev-libs/libevent-2.0.10:0/0= required by (net-p2p/transmission-2.92-r2:0/0::gentoo, installed)
                              ^^^^^
    <=dev-libs/libevent-2.1 required by (net-fs/nfs-utils-1.3.1-r5:0/0::gentoo, installed)
    ^^                  ^^^
    (and 1 more with the same problems)

Unmask nfs-utils-1.3.4 and problem is solved.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads.

Searching for 'libevent' in Portage & Programming brings up the other thread, so other users should be able to find it.
