I'm having some annoying problems with autofs and my floppy drive

I have the entry

a -fstype=auto,users,suid,rw,gid=100,umask=002 :/dev/fd0

in my /etc/autofs/auto.misc file

for some reason, delete and copy of the actual files don't take place until i umount a. Not only that, my user account can't umount. It says something like /auto/a is not in fstab and you are not root. But root can umount a fine though.

Any ideas?

I think you may need to add 'sync' in there somewhere. Also, adding 'user' or 'users' will allow non-root users to mount/dismount.

'man mount' should give you all the info you need on these options.
