there will be no conflict
if you did not install alsa with support for only your old card, then it already has the driver for the audigy too, u just have to tell it.. _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |

no, I only installed alsa support for my own card, unfortunately. So if I emerge support for the Audigy, will I need to somehow kill the support for the old card, or should I just not worry about it?
Thanks,

no, you won't kill support for your old card, unless you specify only the audigy in your alsa emerge.
if you just emerge alsa-driver, then it will compile drivers for all cards.
if you specify [code]env ALSA_CARDS="emu10k1" emerge alsa-driver[code] then it will only compile that driver, and your old card will not work.
but you still need to tell it what driver to use under your alsa conf anyhow.
you can have multiple sound cards setup in alsa if you like, so you could have both running (well support for both at least) _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |
