Earlier today I shrank my root partition using resize2fs (to shrink the file system) and cfdisk (to resize the partition after the file system was shrunk) and while before this my audio was fine now it is muted. The F6 key on my keyboard has a mute icon and a light in it to indicate when audio is inactive or turned off. Presently this light is on and coloured red, thereby telling me the audio is not working. I have tried pressing Fn + F6 to turn the audio back on and it has done absolutely nothing. Pressing Fn + F5 does what it is meant to do so I know that there's no change in how my computer interprets the Fn key. I have tried running:

Code:

alsamixer

and tweaking the settings the way I usually do when the audio is out (changing the volume settings, changing the audio card being used) and it has not worked. The audio was working fine in a live USB session for Arch Linux (I tested the audio by making keyboard mistakes as it always gives a beep) so I know this is something wrong with my Gentoo system. I have run:

Code:

dmesg

to check for errors related to audio and it has returned nothing that I can see as relevant. My complete dmesg output is here.

Thanks for your time.

NVM not sure why (as I did so many things to try and fix this) but this issue is now resolved. I guess after pressing Fn + F6 over and over it eventually worked.
