Hello all,
I have an Opteron Gentoo system setup in my store. Does anyone know where I can get some of the 64bit games/demos i.e. ut2003 to put on this system?
I have searched for quite a while, but have come up empty so far. _________________ Jay Swackhamer

BTW I work in Omaha NE ( and live in Fremont)
There are no end user games that I have been able to find for AMD64 Native.
I run everything from Gentoo, Redhat (Fedora), Mandrake, Suse, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and MAC OS X. |

well, for many of the older games, companies have released the sources or projects have been able to make engines capable of playing the original games. how it works: emerge "game name" . get the real cd, and copy the .pak files to a directory. tell the compiled game engine where that is. play it.
whether or not the sources for games a modern as ut2003 are out i'm not sure (my machine is too slow to know).
please do report your success/failurs. i'm very interested in getting AMD64 soon (waiting on the next paycheck to be exact). for games with sources avail, i wanted to do a comparison of frame rates between a 32bit AthlonXP stage and a 64bit AMD64 stage - i'm curious for myself how much a difference it makes (granted the game engines are outdated and built for 32bit machines) |
