Hi everybody.
We have been trying to boot an Alphastation 600 from a LiveCD without success. It goes through part of the boot process and then it stops with these messages:
INIT: Id "c1" respawning too fast
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel
The boot process is never fully completed. We have used this LiveCD to boot other Alpha's without any problems.
Any hints? _________________ Punk is an attitude

Are you sure it's not a hardware problem? I've had problems with a bad cdrom, and a bad dimm on my old alphas... Also, had problems booting the livecd version 1.3, but 1.4 works flawlessly. Or maybe it was called 1.4 rc4, whatever it was, the newer version fixed my livecd problems. |

It wasn't the hardware. We ended up using Debian instead on the machine since Gentoo simply refused to work. We googled around for a solution and tried to understand what was going on but unfortunately there are not so many such machines around running Linux I guess. The machine is working just fine with Debian though so we won't be spending more time on trying to get Gentoo to work. _________________ Punk is an attitude
