Yes I know there are repositories for packages for both OSes (SunFreeware and SGI's site) but I think that Gentoo's package system and way of doing things would make a great addition to any OS. Sure lets not burn the candle at both ends but having instant access to the gentoo portage system on other Unixes would be great. _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe

Perhaps that's something that could be added to the Gentoo-alt wishlist. I've heard about the work being done to produce 'Portage for MacOS X', for example; though it's not yet publicly available, that seems like a similar kind of effort to the one you suggest, and it will be a good test and demonstration of how easily portable Portage is to other *nixes. |
