Look at this:
http://archive.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-archives/blfs-support/2001/06/0604.html

I followed those instructions when I configured my ISDN connection, worked for me, although I had to change one thing. This is the original:
Code:

isdnctrl addif ippp0
isdnctrl eaz ippp0 <yourmsnhere>
isdnctrl dialmode ippp0 manual|auto|off (whatever you prefer)
isdnctrl dialmax ippp0 3 (or set any another number)
isdnctrl l2_prot ippp0 hdlc
isdnctrl encap ippp0 syncppp
isdnctrl huptimeout ippp0 <timeout in sec.>
isdnctrl pppbind ippp0 0
isdnctrl addphone ippp0 out <number to dial>
ifconfig ippp0 1.1.1.1 up

I had to add:
Code:
isdnctrl l3_prot ippp0 trans

Good luck, and I trust you will come back here if it didn't work :)

Try this:

1) log on as root, cd to /usr/src/linux
2) make a backup copy of your /usr/src/linux/.config (put it in your /root dir, for example)
3) type make mrproper to clean things up
4) restore your copy of the .config file

and now, try compiling the kernel as you usually do
