This isn't a help request. Just a point of interest. I have an old Gateway 11.6" Notebook https://www.notebookcheck.net/Gateway-EC1803h.26716.0.html, now with 4 GB RAM, not updated since November 2022. Actually, I haven't had it out since then, but I got it out this morning.
This afternoon I thought, skeptically, I would see if I could still updated it, emerge -uDU @world. I was worried about the standardization of Python 3.11. But, it's currently emerging package 9 of 661 without apparent issue. It will probably still be working on this at this time tomorrow. I'm guessing 36 hours or so. _________________ Andy Figueroa

Portage nowdays has some really clever methods to manage to go trough even bigger updates without an error. That said I still usually pass --keep-going when there's a lot of packages to compile.
