|

For some time, my system has said "udev-dev-tarball needs udev-mount" or something similar at boot time. And indeed it has /etc/init.d/udev-dev-tempfs but no /etc/init.d/udev-mount. Looking around, I find these scripts were part of sys-fs/udev, but I migrated to sys-fs/eudev, and that contains neither. The wiki entry for eudev mentions neither. So should I just remove /etc/init.d/udev-dev-tarball? it looks to be an orphan. _________________ Greybeard |

you can ask equery who own a file.
Code: | equery b /etc/init.d/udev-dev-tarball |
if you have no answer, you have your answer |

'Twas indeed unused.
FWIW, qlop from app-portage/portage-utils has a nice orphan search:
Code: | qlop -o /etc/init.d/* |
which listed out some other cruft. _________________ Greybeard |
