Vmware Remote Console

Has anyone had any luck installing this on Gentoo in the last year or so? I have given this a shot a couple times, but it always fails without any real output.

I believe the problem (at least in part) has to do with python. I tried changing my system's python from 2.7 to 3.4, and tried extracting the contents of the .bundle file... but everything I try to do winds up crashing (though I get a little further with 2.7). Of course, the problems could extend beyond python... but without any output, it is hard to say.

Vmware's site isn't very forthcoming on the details of this package. Their solution is to just use ubuntu. I don't care for that solution.

Anyone able to get this working?
