Due to some security issues in the ASUS B150m pro gaming motherboard i would like to upgrade the firmware of that motherboard.
I do not own windows so the .exe and .dll files provided by ASUS are no use to me.
On Google i could not find any resources related to this particular motherboard and the Linux platform.

Question: how can i upgrade the firmware when using Windows is no option? (i am not referring to the UEFI/BIOS upgrade, but to the UEFI/BIOS FIRMWARE upgrade.

ASUS release .exe firmware update that can run in dos?
If yes with systemrescuecd you can run freedos and launch exe (in my dell xps 15 work well).

Flash the firmware is always a critical action (in my experience).
It would be better that you perform a search if your mother board is flashable with linux.

Some useful links

The weird thing is i can find nothing regarding the asus b150m Pro gaming motherboard flashing instructions.

Just a .rar file with some .exe files, i did not found any documentatie.

I did upgrade the bios yesterday to the latest version succesfully, however flashing the firmware will not work.
Maybe because, the .rar file just got released.

Do you think it is possible to Run the .exe files from the bios build in EFI Shell?

I made System rescue cd, but i can not get into dos at this point, i am doing research.

Just another question since System rescue cd contains emerge, can it be used to install gentoo?

Code:
This program cannot be run in DOS mode

FWUpdLcl.exe is Windows program, can't upgrade that Asus Intel Management Engine firmware from DOS.

There is no need emerge for install gentoo, the first emerge you run during installation is inside chroot and emerge is provided by stage3.
But yes systemrecuecd contain emerge, it's often used because has better wifi support and support EFI (gentoo minimal cd not support EFI)

I don't remeber exactly but I think is Run system tools from floppy disk image... menu entry

EDIT: Try this procedure at your own risk.

Correct Answer post from Stamgastje has instructions how to install Win only update with Hiren's BootCD and Win XP (just use that Asus update instead Intel).
