Hi
im setting up my desktop machine with gentoo got most things working now apart from the sound. Ive got a audigy2EX i tried using emu10k1-cvs but when i reboot or try and insmod the module i get loads of errors about unresolved links. Anyway i decided to try alsa which has worked great. Quake3 has sound nice and clear, when i play videos/oggs in mplayer works fine but when i try playing them in ogg123 or xmms its just dead. No sound. Ive tried loads of different oggs, all of them are ok not corrupted and ive also emerged the xmms alsa plugin but it just wont work. Has anybody got any ideas?
also could someone tell me is the emu10k1-cvs OSS??
Thanks for any replies i really need to get this working _________________ Some people go to counselling,

In XMMS you need to go in and change the output plugin to use your ALSA-XMMS package (if you haven't done it already.) Just having alsa-xmms installed is not sufficient. Also make sure that you have alsa-oss emerged for maximum compatibility with applications that do not use ALSA. There is plenty of documentation on what all needs to be done, and you are lucky to own a very popular card -- just search the forums and I'm sure your answers are already waiting for your discovery.
