k3b Problem.

Hi, I recently emerged k3b, but im having some problems.

It said I needed "cdrecord", and "cdrdaosomething or other". I ran k3b setup, it said they were necessary to burn CD's, so I emerged them. Supposedly the k3b setup automatically sets the permissions etc. for you, but when I start k3b, I get the message that "k3b requires cdrecord" etc."... I know they are there, and the setup seemed to detect them.

Is there anything I can check to make sure things are set up properly?

Sorry for the vagueness of this description, but im in my Win partition right now

If any additional info or clarification is needed, I shall provide.

Did you add your non-root user to the cdrecording group? When you run k3bsetup it will ask which users to add to the cdrecording group. Its like the the 3 or 4th page during the install. You will need to log off and relogon with that user so you are in the new group.

I have the same problems. I belong to the cdrecording group.

K3bSetup does not exist anymore. I can't run it.

I don't remember good the point, but I had problems with k3b and cdrecord also, I believe I resolved them by changing some autorizations of cdrecord

I had a similar problem, and I fixed it by adding myself to another group. K3B will sometimes create some other group. I think it is called CDRW or CDR or something. Once I added my user to that group it worked fine.

It has something to do with K3B creating some other user by default or something.

Ok.. well i've got another problem regarding k3b and i dint wanted to make a seperate thread for it !!

here it goes !!

When i was using k3b 0.10.1 i did by MISTAKE turn off the Settings --> Project View option !!!

Now what happens is that every timne i start k3b i get two windows .. one the main k3b and second the compilation and project window !! THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING !

i cant get that window dock back into the main window !!! PLEASEEEE HELPPP !!

I reemerged 0.10.1 but that dint solve the problem !! so i unmerged the 0.10.1 version and emerged the 0.10.2 version !!! BUT still the same !

PLZ help me.......

jassi: I don't have a problem to dock it again. You are not trying to drag with the window-caption-bar, are you?

Well, I got the permissions in order. Turns out I just needed to sign out and then back in as my user :oops:

My PC is on 24/7... so I never considered that, as I never logout.

Now however, I have an error saying cdrdao cant write to ATAPI cdrom drives, it can only write to SCSI emulation blah blah. Long story short, methinks I dont have SCSI emulation enabled in my kernel, sigh.

Hooray for rebuilding ALSA modules etc.

OHH !! carlo.. as u got it docked back in !! PLEASEEEEE HELPPP MEEEEEE

actually i can dock/undock other two windows... as they got an arrow on the right-hand side where the close window option is !! but in case of this project window ! i cant see this arrow !!

PLEASE post instructions on how to dock it back in the main window !

PLEASE HELP ME ! i'm really getting annoyed by this behaviour as i wite many cd's in a day ! and this is really putting me off !

Anyways i got the solution !

I had to DRAG the line.. not the main taskbar window ! anyways,,,, i got it solved !!
