|
|
I have a machine with several ethernet devices. Due to some equipment changes, I am having to reconfigure some ip addresses.
On the effected machine, eth1 used to be 192.168.0.3, but I now need to change that to 192.168.4.3.
When I issue the command:
Code: |
ifconfig eth1 192.168.4.3
|
it works, but a short time later, it reverts back to its old ip address of 192.168.0.3.
What is going on here?
Am I failing to change a config file somewhere, and the system is trying to repair itself? _________________ The MyWord KJV Bible tool is at http://www.elilabs.com/~myword

Hi,
are you running something like NetworkManager on this machine? Maybe it helps setting the IP in /etc/conf.d/net for the particular device and restart the device afterwards.

Moriah,
I guess you have dhcp handing out the old address every time the lease expires. _________________ Regards,
