Help!

I cannot seem to log in on tty on my laptop (probably after a update.)
The console only prints out "login Incorrect"
It's the same for my regular user and root
I can however log in in single user mode

Can you change root password via "passwd" in chrooted environment ie. booted from SystemRescueCD like during gentoo install from handbook: chroot and root password?

frigger,

Did your keymap get reset to "us" by the update?
You give your location as Norway. If you have a Norwegian keyboard on top of an American keymap, it may well end in tears.

Type your password at the Username prompt, so you can see it.

Already tried it but no go:/

my kemap is set to no-latin1.
When is add "single" to my grub prompt, then I can log in with my root password.

frigger,

The single runlevel does not start very much.

Can you log in at the console as root after a normal start?

Is it a console issue or a display manager issue?

When logged in via single user mode, check your system logs (in /var/log) for any details about why your multi-user mode login failed.

Disk full?

IIRC I've had trouble login in with a full disk - only single user mode let me login.
