Ok this has probably been mentioned before, but i couldnt find it....
ive done the gentoo-alsa doc about 10 times now, and everything appears to be correct, yet when i try to play anything through xmms-alsa the file plays (the bars in the corner move) but no sound outputs. my permissions are correct, i have installed the correct drivers and xmms alsa is setup correctly. no sound for root user either...
when i use aplay i get aplay: set_params:847: Can't use period equal to buffer size (5513 == 5513), and still no sound and the only other error i have found has been depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.20-gentoo-r8/kernel/drivers/sound/nvaudio.o~, but that was just installing the nvidia nforce modules.
Sorry this ended up a bit long, but i have tried everything i can think of, and i really need some help.
