an hcfpcimodem &wvdial !

I am having problems with wvdial refusing to work after pppd is started.
I am using Gentoo Stage3 & GRP to install the base , with gaming sources kernel , genkernel --config , and using the hcfpcimodem drivers provided by linuxant and using wvdial from the disk , i use wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf and leave it alone , except for the usual username and pass and number ............
.... its been a real good deal up until then , i love Gentoo!
but that crap is driving me insane

any help would be appreciated , besides the usual "get a new modem!"

IT suxxxxx !! for some reason pppd dies and i cant continue ! but i will continue on trying a different way if need be

I never got mine to work either. I just gave up. Winmodems blow. I could connect and I could even see traffic, but pppd would die as well.

im just waiting to get my broadband service and felt like messing around , but owell , I totally hate software modems , they are the bane of the earth and if i had my way they would be recomissioned and remade into real modems LoL
anyways im out , if anyone can think of a way to impliment hcfpcimodems into wvdial Id still appreciate it ! , still got to wait for my broadband so until then Ciao!

I just used kde and installed kppp after that , now i can browse the net just fine and it works perfectly[list] lsmod

i am using an old beta driver that allows me to reach normal 56k operation ,
i tripped out when it worked but i now know , and ill let everyone using dialup
in on a secret! when you get it going , and you emerge sync , use -b with it so you dont have to go back and re - download it again , its a pain in the ass to press the -b buttons bbut trust me , its been saving me from kicking myself in hte head a large amount of times
