warcraft III and radeon 9800 XT

Hi, I'm not a gamer, so excuse the possbily obvious questions.

I've just helped build a new computer for a friend and it has a Radeon 9800 XT. We just finished it and dragged it back to his place when everyone there said, "Well, can it play Warcraft III?" I went on the web, and I saw that winex supposedly supports it.

So my two questions are

1. What's the best drivers for the 9800 XT. I'm guessing the ATI binaries?

2. How do I get Warcraft III playing, and nearly as importantly - playing well on his machine.

It's a screamer, and I'd hate to think that they'd talk him into putting Windows XP on it.

Warcraft III runs bet on winex (imho)

Winex 3.2 costs $15 for a 3 month subscription if you want it legit (which I assume you do). But I hear some jerks get it off IRC or popular torrent downloading sites.

but you can also get it running on wine using this HOWTO

both work for me, but i'm on winex ATM.

gentoo devs took winex-cvs out of portage due to requests of transgaming, otherwise I'd tell you to do that.

There might be a place to get that ebuild, and I think it would be perfectly OK to use it as well. anyone got backups or a link?
