Hi,

I just installed Gentoo Linux on a PC with a Cyrix CPU.

My question is: to what should I set my CFLAGS and CHOST variables?

I emerged some packages with CHOST on i686 and CFLAGS -mcpu=i686. I hope these are the correct settings but I have a strong feeling that they should be 585 instead of 686.

The Cyrix 6x86 is like a Pentium MMX (at least mine is).... Use i586, IIRC.

thx!

But I think I compiled a few packages with the i686 setting. Do you think I should reemerge those packages?

If so, how do I get a list of all the packages compiled with the i686 setting?

BTW what does the "i" mean in front of i686, i586 ?
