|
|
Good afternoon,
After compiling 2.6.0-test9 (both develoment sources and gentoo-dev-sources) I am receiving an error on boot that It cannot find the root= partition in my grub conf. The exact line is.
Code: | kernel (hd0,0)/boot/kernel-2.6.0-test9-gentoo root=/dev/sda3 |
To me this line means one of three things.
1: I didn't compile support for the filesystem
A: I did compile in support for Reiserfs (as a * and not a M)
2: I didn't compile in support for the controller
A: I did compile in support in for the 2940 (AIC 78XX as an *) Drives detect fine on boot
3: I am pointing to the wrong place.
A: The above line works fine for my 2.4.22 installation. 1st SCSI drive, 3rd partition
Is there anything else that this could be? Devfs is compiled in.
Drive overview
(4) SCSI drives (seagate 15k.3's connected to 2940)
(1) WD 120BB connected to Via 686b
(2) Maxtor 160GB's connected to Promise 20276
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thank you for your time,
Frank Russo |
