I used Gentoo for about 7 years. Because of a lack of time to compile, I recently switched to Ubuntu and it was so unstable. Switching back to Gentoo it feels so good. I just wanted to say thank you to all the people who make Gentoo possible and how much your hard work is appreciated.
Sincerely,

I second that. Thanks, everyone. Also, want to thank all the contributors in the forum. My Gentoo journey would have ended a long long time ago if not for your support and advice. |

Yes, I'd also like to second this motion:
I've been using Gentoo for years and its my preferred distribution. I very much like the choice and control it gives me over each install. I can install just what I want/need and nothing else. It makes for a better system. I've used Gentoo to setup Linux based routers, and NAS systems.
I also appreciate the support for other architectures, specifically PPC32, as I like my old PPC Macs. (Also appreciated is the general Linux support for old hardware. You can take something older and make it useful.)
So a very BIG:
Code: |
_______ _ _
|__ __| | | | |
| | | |__ __ _ _ __ | | __
| | | '_ \ / _` | | '_ \ | |/ /
| | | | | | | (_| | | | | | | <
|_| |_| |_| \__,_| |_| |_| |_|\_\
__ __
\ \ / /
\ \_/ / ___ _ _
\ / / _ \ | | | |
| | | (_) | | |_| |
|_| \___/ \__,_|
|
to all those that make this great distribution possible and keep it going! |

Switched to Gentoo long ago, from short period with Fedora after a few BSD trials iirc.
Rolling release was the most attractive point, and remains up to now, on par with package tailoring.
Yes the learning curve is steep, and lasting too...
Feel so great here, have no idea where to go as an alternative , LFS/BLFS perhaps...
Which I never tried, and for which I would use portage USE dependencies for tailoring .
That would be an attempt for a leaner gentoo, likely very time consuming at minimising packages configurations.
No surprise Google went Gentoo to start their tablet project.
No idea where they are now, but that's another story.
Thanks to everyone, all the ones supporting users in the past, at the present and in the future. |

Thanks to everyone. Gentoo is the best. I have been using it for longer than I can remember. |

I discovered Gentoo back in 2004, and I still use it after more than 15 years!
Thanks to all Gentoo developers and contributors for this great distribution! |
