|
|
Hi,
Just installed Gentoo and I encountered a lot of bugs while doing so and had to work around them.
My problem is that the bugs were so many that I feel like I have done something wrong, and when I report all those bug and submit all those patches I will just get a reply like ,,lol, this is expected because of your bad config," or ,,Why did you write these patches yourself? Just get them from http..."
It would be too time consuming to just try it and to report/submit, so I will ask here first what to do.
I'm using a hardened-musl/selinux profile with selinx set to strict and I'm using it as daily driver.
This packages failed building:
- sysklogd-1.5.1-r1
- Crypt-Rijndael-1.130.0
- cifs-utils-6.8
- i3blocks-1.4-r1
- i3status-2.12
- libvirt-4.6.0-r1
- lshw-02.18b-r1
- ninja-1.8.2-r1
- qtwebengine-5.11.1
- screen-4.6.2
- suspend-1.0_p20150810
- udftools-2.0-r2
bugs related to selinux:
ldconfig of musl and layman would fail because of missing selinux policys (already reported musl ldconfig)
when installing youtube-dl, it starts the fetch process from within the portage_sandbox_t (when it shouldn't right ?)
can't use eselect-gcc (permission denied)
I worked around most of those bugs by applying patches and writing Selinux policys.
Questions:
- Why did I encounter so many bugs ?
- Is musl/Selinux(strict) this exotic that I shouldn't report bugs ?
- Is there an interest in SELinux policys for desktop applications like qutebrowser or are they meant to run exclusively as unconfined?
- If yes, where should I upload those policys ?
- Where to upload musl patches that only work with musl but not with glibc ?
- qemu 2.12.0-r3 is in the musl overlay and 3.0.0 is in the gentoo overlay. both build fine. which one should I install ?
- Is the youtube-dl thing a bug ?
- I managed to build qtwebengine-5.11.1 by downloading patches from various projects and by writing own ones. How to submit those to the Gentoo project without violating licenses or copyright?
