Have you recompiled your kernel?

If so, what options related to devfs and USB did you select?

If not, you may need to.....

Please detail your install for us.

are you sure the modules are compiled in?
did it use to work? with the same kernel configuration?
have you upgraded your kernel lately?
could you post your /etc/modules.conf?

I do not have USB support compiled since I have no use for it.

Just so we don't get lost in these massive files I've highl lighted the start of each file. Like the entry below.
/etc/modules:

Hi,

I had this problem a while ago, but I found a solution on this forum. It was related to Cups, starting a bit too early in boot process. I modified the script /etc/init.d/cupsd and the error messages went away :)

So, try to emerge latest Cups (if not already done ;)), or edit the "depend" section of the script like this :

Code:
depend() {
        use net
        after logger
        before nfs
        use vmware
        use hotplug
}

Good luck :)

esclavosoy,

from your .config file it appears that you did not enable usb. as root cd to /usr/src/linux and type make modules_install

Hopefully that will fix it.

Pete

Also, check to make sure you have your cron package and system logger in the default run-level.

Code:
rc-update show

I once had a problem with modutils... check if it's emerged... though I don't think you will get these kind of errors in that case :P
Greetings,

Michael

Regarding USB. I don't think I should compile it just to fix this. I actually want to fix this.

well, ask yourself: do you need USB? I had a bunch of useless usb crap connected to my computyer, but then I removed it and decided "screw this" and just removed usb stuff from the kernel altogether.

Well from what I understand I am getting these error messeges because I have disabled USB support.

I figured how to use rc-update and I set both to default and that worked. THANK!
