According to this site, urxt-unicode ships with a patch to directly parse 24bit color codes to the 256 color pallete since this revision
Looking at rxvt-unicode-9.22/src/command.C in the latest x11-terms/rxvt-unicode-9.22-r1 I don't see this patch. Since this is in the main tree since 2016, has it been added to Gentoo elsewhere? |

Yes that patch is from the same thread in the mailinglist and it's what eventually got applied in the main tree. It does work as intended (at least in my box). I wander if these later revisions of urxvt will be added to Gentoo's main tree. |

Probably not unless there's some serious security bug that requires to drop older versions. Bug upstream to make a new 9.23 release ;)
You can open a bug in Gentoo's bugzilla asking the maintainer of rxvt-unicode to update to 9.23_p<date>, or you can use it in local overlay as mentioned before in this thread. |
