In the past when trying out different WMs I always run into the setting of the new one changing the desktop settings(look) or the other. For example, my old computer was set up the way I liked it with openbox but emerging Lumina and using it once changed the look(fonts, etc) when I next used openbox.

So the current lightdm-gtk-greeter update which pulls in 4 packages from xfce-base has me hesitating.

Has anyone seen a change in their desktop after upgrading?

Check for demons running in the background.

Nope :). Gladly it doesn't pull that much xfce dependencies.
