Hi John R. Graham,
Thank you for the link to guidelines but which point exactly?
ok I thought it might help to see the specs first if the phones are ok to test. I'm not a dev so would need a help of one. No time to develop those skills but wanted to share my hardware. |

As JRG noted, linking to commercial products, particularly from a new account with no other history, looks like spam, even when it is arguably on topic. A user with a long history of useful contributions might get away with such links if they were deemed relevant to the topic and useful to interested readers. A new user posting such links is presumed to be posting the links primarily to drive traffic to those sites, hence the edit to remove the links. |

I got it. But still don't see which point from guidelines - just asking to understand them better.

bazylitor ... point 1, "use common sense", and specifically bullet point 4, "keep the forums free from SPAM" (or in other words, not "linking to commercial products").

Emphasis added.
It amounts simply to that new users posting links is very often spam. Chances increase if the link is to a commercial product.

| ok I just think it's not cool to be called spammer after a first post. John could ask me not to post links instead to treating me like "you probably are a spammer". Not welcoming. It was not advertising - I gave a link to tech spec from gsmarena and some other website so it would be easier to find info if it's hardware are ok. ehhh nevermind |

Hi bazylitor,
If you were being called a spammer, you'd just be gone (banned) from the forums instead of having your post edited for compliance, being given advice on how to contribute, and explanations of how our guidelines are applied. You wouldn't believe how often a first post containing links that end in ".com" turns out to be useless spam. In other words, what you got was a moderator that decided to give you the benefit of the doubt. No offence intended.

| The original thread mentioned Lineage OS; it would have sufficed to simply link to that project's wiki pages for the devices to show that they're reasonable options. |
