Search recommendation and many thanks

First off let me thank all of the forum regulars for getting me through many a screw-up. As many forum admins regularly point out - searching will usually find the answer to whatever problem you're experiencing.

I've found something annoying about the search feature though - when searching for terms containg punctuation like . or / or : the search parses out the text inbetween the punctuation and searches for said text only. This causes alot of problems when you've got a specific error message you want to search for. Enclosing the term in quotes doesn't seem to help. Can anyone else confirm this and if so is there anything we can do to fix it? The limitation may lie with phpBB .
