ok, I have gentoo on my machine a school, but it's definately a little too advanced for my brother. What distributions are a little more, how can you say, user-friendly?
I have to install linux on a '99 Toshiba Satellite 1555cds or something. I deleted everything and set it to boot from the CD and tried to load RH 9 (jeer! boo!) but it's too advanced for the computer. Then I tried using LibraNet I downloaded from a FTP site (I downloaded the file, and copied it to a CD.. did I do something wrong?) and the computer wouldn't read the CD. I was so pissed. My other thought was using something like an older version of RedHat (7?). Any suggestions on what to install?
Specs: 366 MHz pentium (I think)
32MB RAM
4.06GB
Also, if you have an idea, would you like to share where I can get it?
Any and help would be appreciated. |

have you tried knoppix?
it has pretty decent hardware detection and an easy hard drive install.
It hooks up to an apt database so it's easy to install packages and what not. _________________ see gentoo differently... --> [[gui tools for gentoo linux]]<-- |
