Firefox can't update via portage automatically, so the user is left with notifications on a regular basis.

After some mucking and trucking, I found this toggle in about:config

Code:

app.update.doorhanger

You'll still get notifications, however, far less frequently.

As I understand it, after version 63 it is not trivial to disable automatic updating entirely, however perhaps I am overlooking something.
