I've got my system just about completely set up, but can't get it to boot. The last message on the screen is "fb: switching to radeondrmfb from EFI VGA," and afterward the system seems to hang. I'm able to reboot with SysRq+REISUB. From what I can find this has something to do with the kernel support for my graphics card.
I have a Radeon R9 280X. I'll put links below for all information I've seen asked for in similar threads.
full screen output when attempting to boot (hand copied from a picture, if there are any typos)
lspci -nn
kernel .config
fstab
From what I can find, the R9 280X needs the radeon module, not amdgpu. Is something wrong with my configuration?

Hello,
this is the same as in this thread. The difference is, you have a Radeon R9 280X.
This is a -> Southern Islands -> TAHITI.
Please read -> https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Radeon
You need in the kernel
Code: | CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE="radeon/tahiti_ce.bin radeon/tahiti_mc.bin radeon/tahiti_me.bin radeon/tahiti_pfp.bin radeon/tahiti_rlc.bin radeon/tahiti_smc.bin radeon/TAHITI_uvd.bin radeon/TAHITI_vce.bin" |
Have fun

That was exactly what I needed. It worked fine after adding the appropriate firmware in the kernel. Thank you! |
