I can't get my ati radeon M6 work with opengl with a 2.6 kernel.
Ati-Drivers doesn't have support for this card.
I got it working with xfree-drm in 2.4, but those won't compile against 2.6.
Is there a way to get it working in 2.6?
(and don't tell me to use the search function or check some other ati radeon thread, because this video card and 2.6 isn't covered in any of the ones I found)

Have you tried using the DRM support in the 2.6 kernel? That's what you're supposed to use instead of xfree-drm.

Here's what you should try:

- Build a kernel with a patch from here (attachment #706):
http://bugs.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314

- ebuild x11-base/xfree/xfree-4.3.99.16.ebuild fetch unpack

- Patch the xfree tree above with patch from here (#723):
http://bugs.xfree86.org/show_bug.cgi?id=314

- ebuild x11-base/xfree/xfree-4.3.99.16.ebuild compile install qmerge

- Go to /var/tmp/portage/xfree-4.3.99.16/work/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/linux/drm/kernel

- make -f Makefile.linux radeon.o

- Copy the resulting radeon.ko into your kernel modules tree (kernel/drivers/char/drm subdir)

Reboot and you should be up and running....

This is based of a clean install, don't know how your previous drivers are gonna interfer.

Good luck!
