[Split from the locked systemd politics thread systemd discussion: agree to disagree, where it was off-topic. Please keep this thread focused on this tool's merits, not on general systemd-discussion, which more than likely would again devolve into locking.]
for systemd users on gentoo, have you ever given https://github.com/mmstick/systemd-manager/blob/master/README.md
a shot? apparently its the beesknees (if your using systemd setup).. it was written in rust and uses gtk3 for gui stuff. havent heard anything about it being used in gentoo, but it looks pretty neat, seems like it gives you back a bit more control(or alot by the looks of its screenshots)... id say if i were on a systemd build i would def give it a shot, as i hated, HATED my previous experience with it however long ago that was.
having that might have made a diff. its only in arch and fedora repos but source install seems simple enough.. just like everything else with rust and cargo.
sorry to divert the debate, but figured it would be a good place for bringing it up
kinda has a look similar to windows services manager and a cross with regedit |

Looks like a half-unfinished GUI wrapper that displays systemd's text output verbatim. Building LLVM just to click a button instead of using tab completion? No thanks.
Calling it a “manager” is very fitting - it sits there looking pretty, performing no useful work and wasting resources. |
